Empires
Empires of the World
In the age of near unrestricted travel and technological wonder, ambitious and powerful nations have grown into huge empires. Among these, the most prominent are the Commonwealth, the Hauberian empire, the Tamurian domain, the Kingdom of the Sun and lastly the Kazaik empire. Among these great powers there still exist numerous sovereign states of multiple kinds, anything from duchies and city-states to kingdoms. All in some way depend on the goodwill of the empires to keep them independent.
With the growth
and expansion of the empires, the need for more resources has grown too. The solution
has been to acquire colonies
in the unknown world on the other side of the great archipelago and great ocean beyond it. Only now has it become
possible to have stable routes
going beyond the archipelago into the unknown world where resources are plentiful. However,
even as the rule of empires may seem total, the colonies
have become the grounds where the mighty measure
their strengths as the imperial
fleets and forces often skirmish
and maneuver to gain more ground
and important resources. Relations may be stable in the old world, but in the unknown
world they are volatile, always
on the brink of open conflict. But all rulers
know that if it would come to that, there would
be no stability at home either. All of this makes for fragile and strained relations, constantly balancing on the edge of total war.
