Flora and Fauna
Flora and fauna
The world is filled with a great multitude of plants and creatures. Anywhere one goes, one will find something living there. The warmer areas hold the most diverse life, though the temperate areas hold almost as much. The more inhospitable areas of the world may lack in the wide range of the hospitable, but the life that does live there is hardy and thriving. Scientists have long worked to catalogue all plants and creatures, but the task is far from complete as new species are discovered regularly.
The categorization of flora is based on the use and application. Edible, medicinal, esthetic and harmful are the four main categories of plants. Fauna is categorized as domesticated, wild and beast. Domesticated animals are such that humans have a direct influence over and that often over time has been bred to fit human needs. Wild animal species are such that cannot, or are yet to, be domesticated and of no direct threat to human life. Beasts are creatures that are of a great threat to humans and are impossible to domesticate.
Monsters and fey
Throughout the world,
within every civilization and culture there
are tales of creatures whose being is nothing less than pure monstrosity. Some are unique
to separate societies
or cultures, while some carry resemblance all over the known world.
Whether these are just part of folk lore, figments
of imaginations, or actual
beings is a heatedly discussed subject
among scholars at all of the empires
most prestigious seats of learning. But despite the fact that even those of high academic
title have had weird encounters that go beyond
reason, it is all dismissed as simple expressions of madness. At the same time ordinary people,
especially those living
outside of the cities or in the slums of the cities, know reality
to be different as in their everyday
life there's always
the presence of the otherworldly whether one believes it or not. There are things
lurking in the dark, just waiting
for a chance to catch its prey.
